LG to close Mexican manufacturing facility
LG Electronics is to close its mobile handset manufacturing facility in Mexico. The company is to transfer production to a facility in Brazil.
The decision will affect 200 Mexican staff. It is rumoured that transfer is linked to the recent decision by the Mexican government to scraped a 15% import duty on mobile phones. The Mexican facility reportedly produced around 200 000 units per month, the Financial Times reports.
