Intel fined 1 billion Euros

Intel has used illegal sales tactics to shut out competitor Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) on the x86 CPU chip. The fine exceeded a 899 million Euros monopoly abuse penalty for Microsoft Corp. last year. The European Commission says Intel broke EU competition law by exploiting its dominant position with a deliberate strategy to keep AMD out of the market.
