Qimonda sends home 800 workers in Portugal

Chip maker Qimonda has temporarily dismissed 800 employees (for 6 months) at its facility in Portugal.
The company has also terminated all temporary contract workers and has decided to keep only 200 staff members to maintain the facility, according Reuters.

According to Qimonda the company plans to preserve approximately 1,000 jobs at the facility in Portugal if the company finds an investor and avoid liquidation. Qimonda has three months from the start of April to find an investor.
