NEC to exit LCD-related business
NEC said last week that it would exit LCD-related businesses.
It was not clear, if this means that the company will close its LCD facilities or whether NEC is to end LCD business production altogether.
Additional to that, the company also announced serious restructuring and a headcount reduction by 20.000 staff. Most of these layoffs will affect NEC's chip, electronic-component and LCD divisions. About 60% will be made in business operations outside of Japan, reports Bloomberg.
