Sanyo close TV plant in UK
Sanyo will close down its TV plant in Lowestoft, UK.
The reason for the closure is the sharp fall in demand for its products. The production at the plant is expected to end next month and 60 employees will be laid off, said EDP. The plant is the last TV manufacturing faciliy in the UK. According to a spokesperson at the company, the introduction of LCD television imports - mainly from countries such as China, Turkey as well as Eastern Europe - has created a major price pressures in countries such as the UK.
