Sony to outsource CMOS production
Sony is to outsource parts of its production, including CMOS.
Japan based electronics company Sony plans to outsource some parts of its production. This will also include the production of CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensors that are used for cell phones. This comes as part of the earlier announced restructuring. Sony will reduce headcount by a considerable number and will put most of its investment programs on hold, others will be postboned. The LCD facility in Nitra, Slovakia is one of the factories where Sony will postpone investment (evertiq reported).
