Sony to close plant in Dax, France
Sony plans to close down its videotape manufacturing facility in Dax, France.
The facility in Dax has 312 employees and produces approximately 8 million VHS video cassettes per month. Sony also manufactures 8mm and Betacam SP video cassettes in the Dax facility. The reason for the close down is the rise of disk- and chip-based recording technologies, it was stated, reports Reuters. According to the company, the facility will close down by the end of March next year.
