Sanmina-SCI lays off 110 in USA
Sanmina-SCI laid off 110 staff at their PCB facility in Owego, New York.
Sanmina-SCI Chairman and CEO Jure Sola stated in last month's fiscal report that there would not be any major restructuring next year. However, the EMS-provider would need to focus on costs, new orders and diversifying its markets to counter the continuously weak economy.
The lay offs did not - however - trigger a so called WARN notification. The US-American 'Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN)' requires employers to provide advance notice of plant closings and mass layoffs. The EMS-provider would have needed to lay off 1/3 of its facility work force, reports the presscontacts.
