Freescale is looking for partner for mobile chip

Freescale Semiconductor will scrutinize its ailing mobile chip business.
In an interview Freescale CEO Rich Beyer said to Financial Times Deutschland that the company currently considers three alternative options: Search for a partner, sell the mobile radio chip business, or continue to run the activities alone.

The Freescale top executive also declined to say if a partnership with equally loss-making Infineon is a possibility.

Freescale also suffers from a mountain of debt, so cost-cutting will will be a predominant topic in the company, but Beyer said he does not intend to cut on R&D costs.
