Gemtek & USI to ship wireless modules to Intel?
Taiwan based network-equipment makers - Gemtek USI - are said to have supplied Shirley Peak wireless modules to Intel.
The Shirley Peak wireless modules are said to be integrated into Intel's Montevina-based notebooks, reports DigiTimes. The report states that the two companies were able to secure the 802.11n-enabled wireless modules contract and have outbidded EMS big players such as Foxconn.
Intel also reportedly started a selection process for potential contract makers in respect to its next-generation Puma Peak wireless modules. The report states that yet again USI would be the likely winner of the contract and yet again leaving Foxconn behind. The next-generation Puma Peak wireless modules are set to launch in 2009.
