Motorola to reduce staff, plans to close the Birmingham design center
Motorola Labs - the R&D business segment of Motorola - plans to reduce its staff numbers to roughly 300, reports Mobile Today.
It is aid that 150 jobs will be lost and a further 180 employees will be moved to other positions within the company. The remaining R&D staff will continue to work on long-term projects.
The company is said to plan the closure of its Birmingham handset design center as part of this initiative. The centure currently employs 120 staff and plans to cut its workforce by 50%.
