Freescale acquires Sigmatel
Freescale Semiconductor aims for a new GPS-product portfolio through an acquisition.
Freescale Semiconductor acquires Sigmatel. Sigmatel, a developer of analogue circuits, has just released a new portable GPS-receiver. This new chips will replace up to 12 previous chip generations and will offer the possibility for GPS-manufacturers to sell navigation receivers for just under €64. The actual processor costs is around €2,90.
Sigmatel’s shareholders have approved the transaction.
