Flextronics to close Swedish plant

EMS provider Flextronics will close down its manufacturing plant in Östersund, Sweden.

400 employees will be laid off as Flextronics closes the plant in Östersund, Sweden. All employees received dismissal notification today. Annsofie Andersson district manager for the Östersund area said the situation will be analysed together with the company and the union. According to latest reports the reason for the closure of this plant is because Ericsson redundancies in Sweden. The first lay offs will start in November this year. The production will stop during 2009. This plant was up until recently owned by Solectron and is not part of Flextronics SBS.
