The talks already started two months ago, when Surrey University quit talks with Thales Alenia Space and OHB Technology. Surrey University holds 85% of SSTL. Surrey Satellite Technology reported a £21 million revenue in 2006 and developed the satellite GIOVE-A for the Galileo-Programme of the European Space Agency (ESA). The acquisition could give EADS Astrium access to new technology and the British Space-Budget.
