Pioneer’s plasma TV production to end
Pioneer stops its plasma TV production to counter considerable losses during the last fiscal year.
Pioneer is losing money with the maintenance of their own production facilities. Production will be handled through
another company, although Pioneer will still be selling plasma TVs. Rumours have it that Pioneer is looking at
Matsushita, a Japanese company, as a viable option.
The company is also expected to book a considerable loss for their plasma production in the up-coming fiscal report.
Rumours state US$ 96 million as the likeliest figure.
Pioneer is the 5^th largest plasma production company, but they stopped their production of LDs last year. Those are
bought from Sharp now. Pioneer is now expected to team up with Matsushita on Plasma TV.
