85% of European electronics to<br>be produced in Eastern Europe

According to a MHM report, electronics manufacturing in Central- and Eastern Europe is growing fast. At the same time the number of plants in Western Europe is shrinking rapidly.

Analyst firm MHM Research has predicted the near term future for the European electronics industry. In 2008, all Electronics goods produced within Europe will be produced in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Western Europe will only keep 15% of the market during 2008. Many European EMS-providers have started up new production lines in CEE and when Asian OEMs are building new plants in Europe they chose CEE. According to the report, 500 of Europe’s largest electronics manufacturing plants holds 80% of the total output of European made electronics goods.
