Acer buys Packard Bell

Computer giant Acer has acquired 75 per cent of competing PC firm Packard Bell.

Packard Bell is currently seeking to rebuild its presence in Europe. Through this deal, Acer will get a stronger foothold on the European PC market. Initially there were rumors of Lenovo seeking to acquire Packard Bell. Speculations have been made that Acer's intentions for acquiring the company were to prevent Lenovo from doing such.
