1700 jobs at Nokia’s suppliers in Germany may be affected by plant closure.

evertiq.com reported earlier that mobile phone maker Nokia will close down its plant in Bochum, Germany. 1700 employees at Nokia’s suppliers in Germany will also lose their jobs. As previously announced 2300 employees at Nokia’s Bochum plant in Germany will be reduced. According to a Swedish magazine Nyteknik, 1700 jobs may be affected at Nokia’s suppliers due to the closure of the plant. Yesterday Nokia’s CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo apologized on behalf of the company for closing down the plant, NewsRoom Finland reports. He also mentioned that labor was too expensive in Germany. The Bochum plant swallowed 23 % of Nokia's labor costs.
