Compact signalling devices for the automotive, medical and electronics industries
The three signalling devices from the range of endrich GmbH, CSPT12A03-4.0F, UGPT12BM4003P and PA-1212S-4.0UI005 from ChinaSound, work on the basis of piezoelectric technology. This technology exploits the property of certain materials to generate electrical voltages when mechanically deformed and vice versa, which is used for efficient sound generation. They are suitable for use in the SMD process and are characterised by low power consumption. They are manufactured with RoHS-compliant materials and withstand a wide range of temperatures and environmental conditions.
The three piezo transducers achieve a resonant frequency of 4,000 Hz and a sound level of 75 dB with a uniform footprint (12 x 12 mm). The UGPT12BM4003P from HXE is an additional 0.2 mm higher than its competitors at 3 dB (78 dB). Despite its compact design, the UGPT12BM4003P also features lower power consumption of just 1 mA, while its competitors require more energy at 2 mA (CSPT12A03-4.0F) and 5 mA (PA-1212S-4.0UI005) respectively. The temperature ranges of the three products are largely similar (-40 to +85°C), with ChinaSound's CSPT12A03-4.0F model being suitable for more extreme environments with an extended temperature range of -40 to +105°C. The operating voltage varies slightly. The CSPT12A03-4.0F operates in a voltage range of 1 to 20 Vp-p, while the UGPT12BM4003P and the PA-1212S-4.0UI005 cover a slightly wider range of 1 to 25 Vp-p.
All three models are suitable for a wide range of applications where clear and distinct audible feedback is required. Thanks to their SMD compatibility, these transducers can be mounted directly on printed circuit boards, simplifying the production process and reducing space and weight.
These piezo transducers are used in alarm systems, signal transmitters for portable devices, medical instruments and industrial applications. They are particularly valued in the automotive and medical technology industries for their reliability and energy efficiency.
