STMicro: No plans to sell
Market rumours suggest that STMicroelectronics is contemplating the break up of the company. The chip manufacturer refutes the rumours as false.
The selling of the mobile phone chip segment of their business to - possibly - Samsung had been suggested. However, many analyst doubt that this move would be sensible on Samsung's part. Acquiring baseband IP could also be achieved through a licensing deal with ST-Ericsson.
