XIVER secures €28 million from ABN AMRO to expand photonics foundry
Eindhoven-based specialty foundry XIVER has received EUR 28 million in debt financing from ABN AMRO. The money is part of a EUR 55 million programme to expand and modernise its production of photonic chips and other microsystems.
The senior debt financing will be used to significantly expand and modernise XIVER’s production capacity and equipment, according to a press release from the company. XIVER manufactures integrated photonic chips, infrared sensors, medical imaging technologies and advanced thin-film semiconductors, helping customers move from product design to volume production.
The financing makes up just over half of a EUR 55 million capital programme, which will focus in particular on XIVER’s integrated photonics customers and other advanced semiconductor applications. The aim is to strengthen the company’s ability to take technologies from development and industrialisation into volume production.
XIVER was carved out of Philips at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven and acquired by Dutch investors in early 2025. The company, which has more than 100 employees, says it has since undergone a significant transformation and built up a growing base of international customers in areas such as semiconductor equipment, ultrasonic transducers and optical communications.
“I am extremely proud of what our team has achieved in such a short period of time. With the support of our investors and ABN AMRO, we can now substantially scale our production capacity to meet the rapidly growing production requirements of our global customer base,” said Wil van de Wiel, CEO of XIVER.
XIVER is based at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven and has more than 100 employees. Besides photonics, its customers include companies in semiconductor equipment, ultrasonic transducers and optical communications.
The company has not said where the remaining EUR 27 million in the programme will come from, what equipment it plans to invest in, or how much capacity the expansion will add.
