Tata Electronics, Sumitomo Chemical to boost India’s chip supply chain
Under the MoU, both companies have agreed to explore a collaboration whereby Sumitomo will supply semiconductor materials, including photoresists, functional chemicals, and high-purity chemicals to Tata Electronics’ upcoming Fab in Dholera, Gujarat.
India’s Tata Electronics and Sumitomo Chemical, a Japan-based chemical company supplying semiconductor materials worldwide, have signed an MoU to strengthen the development of India’s semiconductor supply chain. The collaboration will strengthen supply chain diversification and enable the availability of high-quality materials in line with India’s goal of becoming a leader in semiconductor manufacturing, Tata Electronics said in a media release.
Under the MoU, both companies have agreed to explore a collaboration whereby Sumitomo will supply semiconductor materials, including photoresists, functional chemicals, and high-purity chemicals, such as hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, ammonia water and sulfuric acid, to Tata Electronics’ upcoming Fab in Dholera, Gujarat. In addition, Tata Electronics will support Sumitomo Chemical in exploring the manufacture of semiconductor materials and high-purity chemicals in India.

Tata Electronics is building a 12-inch (300 mm) semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, with a planned investment of USD 11 billion. The facility will manufacture chips for a wide range of applications, including automotive, mobile devices and AI, serving customers worldwide.
