Navitas takes $5 million stake in Magnachip to deepen SiC partnership

Navitas Semiconductor is making a USD 5 million strategic equity investment in Magnachip Semiconductor, deepening a partnership the two companies announced in July 2026.

Under the agreement, Magnachip will issue 1,461,988 new shares to Navitas at USD 3.42 per share. The transaction is expected to close around September 24.

The investment follows a licensing deal in which Magnachip gained access to Navitas' GeneSiC Trench-Assisted Planar technology for applications at 1,200 V, 2,300 V, 3,300 V and above. Magnachip is also tapping into Navitas' SiC supply chain and materials ecosystem, with plans to port and qualify the technology at its fabrication facility in South Korea.

The companies are targeting energy and grid infrastructure, energy storage, industrial electrification, automotive and other high-power applications.

"Our initial technology and licensing collaboration established a strong foundation. This investment further aligns our interests and reflects our shared belief that the combination of our complementary technologies can create new opportunities across high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage applications," says Chris Allexandre, President and Chief Executive Officer of Navitas, in a press release.
