Bull and Foxconn manufacture AI infrastructure in Europe

Bull and Foxconn are joining forces to manufacture AI and cloud infrastructure in Europe. The initial investment exceeds 120 million euros. The collaboration is based on a clear division of labor: manufacturing and initial testing will take place at Foxconn’s facility in Pardubice, Czech Republic, while final assembly, integration, and system validation will be carried out at Bull’s plant in Angers, France. The systems are designed for demanding AI workloads—training and inference—and target cloud service providers, enterprises, research institutions, and the emerging AI factories in Europe, according to a press release from the companies. Both companies highlight the sovereignty perspective. Citing ING and McKinsey data, Europe accounts for approximately 8 percent of global semiconductor manufacturing capacity, and Europe’s share of key AI infrastructure segments is below 5 percent. The partnership is described as a step toward reducing that dependency.
