Avnet closes logistics center in Poing by end of 2026

US electronics distributor Avnet will close its logistics center in Poing by the end of 2026, as reported by the Süddeutsche Zeitung on April 20. The decision affects around 350 jobs. According to the company, the reasons are weak prospects in the components business and declining utilization of logistics sites. Months of protests, strikes, negotiations, and support from the works council and IG Metall could not prevent the closure. Avnet cites a long-term dampened demand for electronic components, primarily blaming weak development in the automotive and manufacturing sectors, and does not expect a rapid recovery.
