Hexagon acquires Waygate – enters NDT market

Hexagon AB has entered into an agreement to acquire Waygate Technologies from Baker Hughes for approximately $1.45 billion. The deal strengthens Hexagon's position in non-destructive testing (NDT) and broadens its offering from surface measurement to the inspection of components' internal structures. Waygate Technologies, with 2025 revenues of around $630 million, a 10% EBIT margin, and roughly 1,500 employees globally, specializes in computed tomography (CT), radiography, and remote visual inspection (RVI), serving the aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. This acquisition marks the entry of Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division into the NDT market, which it views as a natural extension of its core precision measurement business, aiming to create an integrated offering combining hardware, software, and data analytics into a unified quality flow. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026, pending regulatory approvals, and will be financed with existing funds and loans
