Ampere partners with Basquevolt to advance battery technology

The joint development agreement (JDA) aims to accelerate the development of lithium-metal-based batteries to meet the Pre-A sample requirements for electric vehicles. Ampere, the electric vehicle and software entity of the French Renault Group, has signed a JDA with the Spanish solid-state battery company Basquevolt to speed up the development and validation of lithium-metal-based batteries for future EVs. Basquevolt's lithium-metal battery technology combines the advantages of a polymer electrolyte with an advanced anode, which the company states could enable more compact and lighter batteries with greater thermal stability and fast-charging capabilities—key features for the next generation of electric mobility. Ampere and Basquevolt thus aim to pave the way for the commercial implementation of this technology in electric vehicles
