Volkswagen recalls about 100,000 electric cars

The German automaker Volkswagen AG is recalling nearly 100,000 electric cars due to issues related to battery modules, reports Reuters. The recall covers around 75,000 vehicles from Volkswagen's ID. series and nearly 20,000 units of the Cupra Born model, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). The affected vehicles were manufactured between February 2022 and August 2024, with approximately 28,000 of them located in Germany. The authority states the issue involves battery modules in the high-voltage battery that do not meet specifications, which can lead to reduced range and also pose a potential fire risk. The measures include a software update for the affected vehicles, followed by an inspection of the batteries, with individual battery modules being replaced if necessary.
