Volvo CE shuts down Rokbak after losses

Volvo Construction Equipment announces that it will discontinue its Rokbak operations as part of a strategic shift. The decision is motivated by a lack of profitability in the business. Rokbak, previously known as Terex Trucks, generated approximately 1 billion SEK in 2025 but reported a loss. According to the company, increased costs and global trade challenges have negatively impacted the operation's financial performance. The closure is expected to burden the operating income within the Construction Equipment business area by about 700 million SEK in the first quarter of 2026. Around 400 million SEK of this consists of non-cash items, mainly related to the write-down of goodwill. Production of Rokbak dump trucks is planned to cease during the second half of 2026. The decision is conditional on the completion of the collective consultation process, expected in the third quarter. At the same time, the company states that the Motherwell plant in Scotland will continue to play a central role in developing and manufacturing other product lines within Volvo CE. Through the discontinuation, Volvo CE aims to reallocate resources to other parts of the business and focus on developing new transport solutions, while providing support to affected customers, partners, and employees during the transition
