BMW will deploy humanoid robots in German production

BMW Group is introducing Physical AI in Europe and launching a pilot project with humanoid robots at its Leipzig plant. The goal is to integrate humanoid robotics into series vehicle production and explore new applications in battery and component manufacturing, the company stated in a press release. In collaboration with Hexagon, a long-standing partner in sensor technology and software, the group has launched its first European pilot project for deploying humanoid robots. Following a successful pilot in the US last year, the initiative aims to test and develop AI-powered, learning-capable robots in real industrial conditions to explore a wide range of applications, including battery module and exterior component production
