Elkem temporarily reduces production at Rana and Salten

Elkem has announced that the company is temporarily reducing production at its plants in Rana and Salten, Norway, due to a challenging market, high inventory levels, and high electricity prices. The measure may lead to temporary staff reductions. From February 13, all three furnaces at Salten and the two at Rana will be shut down. Rana produces ferrosilicon, a critical raw material for the steel industry, while Salten primarily manufactures silicon, used in products such as ceramics, batteries, and aluminum alloys. Inge A.
