EcoDataCenter and Mistral AI plan large-scale AI data center in Borlänge

The French AI company Mistral AI has entered into a strategic partnership with the Swedish EcoDataCenter to build a large-scale AI data center in Borlänge. This initiative is part of Mistral AI's planned investment of approximately 12.8 billion Swedish kronor in Swedish digital infrastructure and marks the company's first investment in AI infrastructure outside of France. The data center is planned to be operational by 2027. Within the framework of the collaboration, Mistral AI will establish large-scale computing capacity at EcoDataCenter's facility in Borlänge, which will be used for the development and operation of next-generation AI models. EcoDataCenter is responsible for designing, building, and operating the infrastructure, which will use renewable energy and advanced cooling techniques and be adapted for high-density computing. The facility will be equipped with Nvidia's latest GPU architecture, Vera Rubin, and aims to build a European AI infrastructure to reduce dependence on non-European actors, strengthening Europe's capacity to develop and operate advanced AI technology
