ByteDance is developing AI chips and talking to Samsung

According to Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, the Chinese technology conglomerate ByteDance, best known as the parent company of TikTok, is developing plans to produce its own artificial intelligence chips and is in talks with electronics giant Samsung about potential manufacturing partnerships. Reuters reports that ByteDance aims to strengthen its AI hardware capabilities to run its own AI models more efficiently and at a larger scale, reducing its reliance on external suppliers. This move is seen as a strategic step to gain independence in the increasingly competitive field of generative AI and data-centric applications
