Okmetic begins volume production at expanded Vanda factory

Okmetic has commenced volume production at its expanded factory in Vanda, Finland, focusing on 150–200 mm silicon and bonded silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. The expansion particularly increases the capacity for 200 mm polished wafers, according to the company. Following a structured qualification and ramp-up phase, Okmetic is now delivering volume production to customers in MEMS, RF, Power, and GaN-based applications. The factory expansion, which began in 2023 and includes over 40,000 square meters with 6,000 square meters of cleanroom space, is expected to more than double Okmetic's capacity by 2030
