Ford and Geely discuss production and technology partnership

According to Reuters, U.S. automaker Ford Motor Company and Chinese conglomerate Geely are in talks about a potential production and technology partnership. The aim is to reduce development and manufacturing costs and secure competitiveness in an increasingly challenging market environment. The companies are reportedly exploring, among other things, whether Geely could utilize Ford's existing production capacity in Europe to build vehicles for the European market, which would also help circumvent potential trade barriers and tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. The talks also cover technology cooperation, including possible shared approaches to vehicle platforms, software, and driver-assistance systems, with a particular focus on electrification and automated driving. The discussions, ongoing for several months, have yet to yield an official statement, and it remains unclear if they will lead to a binding agreement
