Stena Recycling invests over half a billion in EV batteries

Swedish company Stena Recycling is making a major investment in the reuse of EV batteries, viewing the remaining capacity in batteries as both an economic and a regulatory compliance issue. As battery production increases, large volumes of spent batteries will need handling—a sector Stena aims to dominate, estimating it will be worth 260 billion kronor within a decade. While the industry has focused on recycling valuable minerals like cobalt, lithium, and nickel, the focus is now shifting to also reusing batteries, such as in forklifts, which can extend their life by seven to ten years before final recycling
