Gentherm invests in R&D expansion in Hungary

The U.S. provider of thermal management solutions, Gentherm, is expanding its research and development activities in Hungary. The company announced an investment of approximately €15.7 million for a new R&D program at its site in Pilisszentiván near Budapest, a project supported by the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). The investment focuses on advancing technologies for **vehicle interior comfort** and **temperature management for medical applications**, aiming to drive product development and strengthen its position in high-growth technology fields. The project is expected to create around **20 new R&D jobs**, and the company plans to increase its **European and international patent applications** with Hungarian priority. Gentherm, a global supplier of thermal systems for the automotive industry (e.g., seat and steering wheel heaters) and medical temperature regulation, employs over **14,000 people in 13 countries**, with about **350 staff in Hungary**, where the Pilisszentiván site also handles finance and logistics.
