After 29 years, Micron drops Crucial

Micron Technology announces the withdrawal of its Crucial consumer business, ending the sale of Crucial brand memory and storage products through major retailers, online sellers, and distributors worldwide. The company will continue supplying Crucial consumer products until the end of the second quarter of its fiscal year, i.e., until February 2026, and will maintain warranty services and technical support for existing products. Micron assures it will continue to supply its enterprise memory and storage products to commercial channel customers globally. "The development of AI-based data centers has caused a rapid increase in demand for memory and storage. Micron made the difficult decision to withdraw from the Crucial consumer business to improve supply and support for our larger, strategic clients in faster-growing segments," said Sumit Sadana, Vice President of Micron Technology. This move by Micron is part of a broader portfolio transformation focusing on core enterprise and commercial segments to adapt to new, rapidly growing, profitable markets.
