GKN Aerospace to develop drones for FMV

GKN Aerospace has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to develop and demonstrate an unmanned aerial vehicle and a corresponding turbojet engine. The order is valued at approximately 150 million kronor, and the demonstration is to be carried out within 18 months, the company announces. The project aims to create a flexible UAV platform that can be adapted for several types of operational uses. GKN Aerospace states that the work has already begun and is being carried out in close collaboration with FMV. The project is cited as a good example of how the two parties can explore innovative solutions to strengthen Sweden's defence capability. The work builds on the company's expertise and a long-standing partnership with FMV, using an agile development approach to identify new cost-effective solutions for the Swedish Armed Forces.
