VW secured chip supplies

The Volkswagen Group has announced that the company is secured in terms of semiconductor supply for current production, according to Reuters. This sends a clear signal that VW is avoiding the component shortage problems plaguing the industry due to the Nexperia turmoil. Volkswagen confirmed it has enough chips to maintain stable production in the near future. The German concern stands in stark contrast to the lack of foresight shown by others, such as Nissan, which is for the second time limiting production at its plant on Kyushu due to ongoing supply disruptions related to Nexperia. Thomas Schaefer, the CEO, stated that the company has improved its supply chain management processes based on lessons learned from the post-pandemic semiconductor crisis. While acknowledging the market remains difficult, Volkswagen does not anticipate any production disruptions from chip shortages under current conditions and expects its implemented procedures and expanded supplier relationships to ensure stability in the coming months
