PTS is launching the 1800 MHz band auction

The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) is now launching the auction for licenses to use radio transmitters in parts of the 1800 MHz band. The goal is for these frequencies to be used to contribute to Sweden's continued digitalization in a secure manner. PTS will assign national block licenses in parts of the band, ensuring they are allocated well before the current permits expire. The auction begins today and is expected to last up to ten working days, though it may take longer, with no information on approved bidders being released until its conclusion. The licenses are valid from 2028 to 2054, and their terms are designed to eventually enable contiguous frequency space across the entire 1800 MHz band and promote efficient spectrum use
