Jalisco announced the first State Semiconductor Design Park in Latin America

The state announced a new semiconductor complex resulting from the collaboration between the state government and Cinvestav for talent development, investment attraction, and to position the state as a technology hub. Jalisco has taken a strategic step to consolidate its position in the value chain and become a national and international reference in semiconductors with the announcement of the first State Semiconductor Design Park in Latin America. The state government of Jalisco and Cinvestav signed an agreement to host the complex, which will focus on developing specialized talent for an industry that could reach a value of one trillion dollars by 2030, according to a report by the newspaper El Economista. During the announcement, the Secretary of Economic Development, Cindy Blanco, highlighted that the state already concentrates 70% of the country's semiconductor design companies. The new park will be integrated as a complement to the federal Kutsari program. The plan has four main pillars: training engineers with "last mile" training; boosting Jalisciense startups; attracting foreign direct investment; and fostering cooperation between academia and industry. According to the announcement, the State Semiconductor Design Park will begin operations in 2026 in temporary facilities at Cinvestav. Subsequently, it will move in the next phase to a 4,600 m² building within the same complex. It will also expand with satellite locations, starting at the University of Guadalajara, where Infineon donated a laboratory for the final stage of assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP).
