Perlos pretax loss EUR 2.6 mn
Finnish mobile phone casing maker Perlos on Tuesday posted a second-quarter pretax loss of 2.6 million, down from a loss of 3.3 million in the year-ago period.
Net sales was down by 34 per cent to about 114 million euros. The net sales trend has been affected particularly by BenQ Mobile's decision to cease production operations in Europe and by the weaker demand for Perlos' services in Finland. "Our profitability improvement programme has proceeded ahead of schedule. The targeted reduction in the number of employees, approximately 4,000 from the beginning of this year, has now been reached," Matti Virtanen, the chief executive of Perlos said.
