Jabil creates 1500 new jobs in Ukraine<br>by establishing new handset plant

Jabil is establishing a new handset manufacturing plant in Ukraine in spring 2007.

Jabil, the EMS provider that was established some fourty years ago and today has 45 plants in 20 countries, is establishing a new handset plant in the Zakarpatskaya region in Ukraine. The construction started in September 2006 and inauguration is planned to be in spring 2007. When the plant is up and the construction work is finished Jabil will transfer its manufacturing facilities from its operations in Hungary to Ukraine. Jabil is a supplier to companies like Airbus, Alcatel, Cisco, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, LG, Philips, Nokia, Sharp, Thompson, and Whirlpool. According to local media sources the company will invest $50 million in construction of which $18 million will be spent to build the plant itself and $20 million will go to provide the machinery. The plant is expected to create up to 1.5 thousand new jobs.
