As portable devices like cell phones, music players, and PDAs continue to explode in popularity, the companies that manufacture the components for these devices are facing fierce competition, causing one of those companies, Hong Kong-based Nam Tai Electronics to lower its forecasts as a result.
The electronics-manufacturing services (EMS) sector has traditionally assembled printed circuit boards for consumer electronics products and PCs, but the companies have branched out in recent years, manufacturing other components and offering a wider array of services to its OEM clients.
