French wafer unit cuts 323 workers
French joint venture between Infineon Technologies and IBM, Altis Semiconductor SA, will lay off 323 workers at its factory in Corbeil-Essonne.
Altis also plans to cut approximately one-third of its wafer manufacturing capability. This is part of a restructuring plan. Altis is currently facing global competition, particularly from Asia. Therefore the company needs to be more competitive.
