Foxconn bids for 4G mobile spectrum license

EMS-giant Foxconn is apparently bidding for a 4G mobile spectrum license in Taiwan.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Foxconn is one of seven applicants who put in the bid which will be reviewed by Taiwan’s National Communications Commission in August before auctioning off the 4G spectrum in September. As the EMS-provider is heavily reliant on Apple to provide the the bulk of its revenues, a diversification seems to be a sensible idea. So why not becoming a carrier. And given the fact that Mozilla’s Firefox OS is said to enjoy Foxconn's support, bidding for 4G spectrum seems to be an 'almost true sounding' rumour.
