Harting works with University of Erlangen-Nuremberg

Swiss based manufacturer Harting has entered into a strategic partnership with Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in Germany.
The partnership aims to enhance manufacturing processes and product creation in the field of molded interconnect devices (3D-MID).

The Swiss manufacturer of MID components and systems wants to work with FAU's Institute for Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS) in such areas as mechanical design, electronic circuit development and reliability studies of mechatronic products.

"The strategic partnership with FAU will assist us in expanding our technological leadership and handling additional demanding customer applications.," said Albert Birkicht, Managing Director Harting Mitronics,

Institute head Prof. Dr. Jörg Franke appreciates the long-term basis for the partnership, which allows "new possibilities to align university research with the current requirements from the industrial world, to bring our own innovations into use quickly and to offer motivated students fascinating assignments with practical relevance."
