Outsourced manufacturing a growth driver for the industry

2011went by and left the contract manufacturing industry with mixed results. But compared to 2010 aggregated revenues were still up, but just a bit, which meant a two year revenue growth streak. But as we all know, the year ended on a rather low level, with most companies reporting dull order patterns and a very uncertain start to 2012 as the economic situation did not provide any assistance.

With the on-going credit crisis in big consumption markets such as Europe, as well as the potential of slower growth in China and the US, the year could go in either direction, according to IHS. In the long run, the trend towards outsourcing will remain a powerful growth driver for the industry.
