With Andus into space

The German PCB manufacturer Andus Electronic GmbH, headquartered in Berlin, is currently working on several space projects. All these projects have one thing in common: a long flexible circuit board.

These individual projects require an enormous amount of manual work. However, to ensure the highest accuracy and quality, many manufacturing steps are also performed on the production machines. To obtain reproducible results, new machines were installed and existing equipment was upgraded. For some space projects, Andus provides super long flexible, integral PCBs with no discontinuity. The most complex FPC is a 4 meters long flexible multilayer from 4 layers to be used for a communication satellite. The biggest challenge is to provide the correct registration of layer patterns and coverlay to each other. Another project relates to the future Lunar & Mars missions. Andus will supply 5 meter long FPCs for detecting the water content of the soil.
